CAIRO METRO – EGYPT (LINE 3, PHASE1)Place: Line No. 3 extends from the north west of the Greater Cairo at Imbaba to the north-east at Heliopolis and will eventually also serve the Cairo International Airport.Project: The total length of the line is approximately 30 kilometres (19 miles) most of which is in bored tunnel and will be implemented in four phases. Detail of the Work: The design of phase 1 is taking into consideration the safe crossing of two major underground structures; namely, the line 2 bored tunnel at Attaba and the wastewater spine tunnel north of Attaba. It is also planned that some of the underground stations will be extensively used as commercial centres. ISTRIAN MOTORWAY CROATIA (PHASE 2A)Place: The construction of a full profile motorway is planned in phases, so that the entire work of doubling the Istrian motorway network is finished in the shortest time possible.Project: Phase 2 (the construction of a double carriageway) Phase 2A works comprise the construction of sections for which the existing location (zoning) permits can be used, as well as the existing environmental impact studies. The Istrian Motorway Phase 2 has been awarded to BOUYGUES TRAVAUX PUBLICS in September 2008. Works have started last October and the whole project is to be completed in March 2012. It consists in the design and construction of a 100 Km tolled section of 2x1 lanes in Istria, Croatia, by enlarging the existing motorway constructed by Bouygues between 1998 and 2006. The project includes 5.5 million cubic meters of earth working, 80,000 cubic meters of concrete as well as 17 toll plaza stations with equipments and installations. |

MOUNT ROSSER BYPASS, JAMAICAPlace: The road, a four-lane dual carriageway, will begin at the Bog Walk/Linstead bypass and bypass the town of Ewarton, Mount Rosser and Mount Diablo and continue through to Claremont just outside of Moneague.Project: Covers a range of aspects from land acquisition, road construction, building of a toll plaza and the installation of utilities. The project includes 13 structures including major river crossing as well as a toll plaza with equipments and instrumentations. Client: The project will be undertaken by TransJamaican Highway/Bouygues, which were the developers of Highway 2000. The work is scheduled to be completed in 30 months. “The contract was awarded to Bouygues to start work on the Mount Rosser section, on the basis of Bouygues having enough knowledge of the terrain based on work they were doing with the bauxite companies," Henry told the Observer after the launch. Assembling Contract: The Mount Rosser Bypass project, which is a part of the North-South link of Highway 2000, was originally scheduled to cost US$108.5 million and be completed by January 2010, but this has been revised to US$135.5 million and a completion date of January 2011. |

NEW TYNE CROSSING, NEWCASTLE, U.K.Place: Newcastle - United KingdomProject: The New Tyne Crossing is the project to design and build a second vehicle tunnel under the River Tyne, refurbish the existing vehicle tunnel and to operate and to maintain all the tunnels under the river until 2037. It is one of the biggest transport infrastructure projects currently active in Great Britain. Client: On April 12 2007, the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Authority (TWPTA) appointed a consortium of companies led by Bouygues Travaux Publics, to deliver the New Tyne Crossing. Assembling Contract: The New Tyne Crossing represents a £260 million capital investment in road infrastructure in Tyne & Wear. Detail of the Work: The new tunnel will run under the River Tyne between East Howdon and Jarrow, and will complete the dualling of the A19 from its junction with the A1 in South East Northumberland to North Yorkshire. NEW SAFE CONFINEMENT OF CHERNOBYL - UKRAINEPlace: Chernobyl - UkraineProject: The New Safe Confinement will be the replacement for the aging Sarcophagus currently covering the remains of Reactor 4 at the Chernobyl Plant. The Interim Storage Facility-2 will be used to deal with spent fuel from Chernobyl reactors 1-3. Contractors are currently working on design and technical details for both projects. Final designs are scheduled to be submitted to Ukrainian regulators in spring 2009. Client: The commercial proposal of Novarka of Vinci Construction Grands Projets and BOUYGUES (both France) amounts to EUR 271.1 million Detail of the Work: Ukraine's Ministry of Emergency Measures announced on January 24, 2008 that construction of the New Safe Confinement structure at the Chernobyl Atomic Energy Station will begin in earnest this spring. Physical work for clearing the area has began in September 2008, with the digging of NSC foundation areas to start in November. The project provides for the implementation of a high-speed train system. CASTLE PEAK CABLE TUNNEL - HONG KONG(Construction is scheduled for completion in March 2009)Place: The tunnel starts at a tunnel portal located at CLP Castle Peak Power Station and passes beneath a mountainous region, finishing at a shaft near a town centre at Tuen Mun near Hong Kong Project: Tunnel of 4,500 Meters length with a Diameter of 4.5 meters. Client: CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) Detail of the Work: The tunnel which will be excavated using a rotary digger shield has hard soil and will ensure the passing of high tension cables from Castle Peak Power station to Tuen Mun. TANGIER PORT RO-RO- MOROCCO(Construction is scheduled for completion in 2009)Place: Tangier Project: The on-going Tangier-Mediterranean port project will allow Morocco to improve its competitiveness, thanks to well connected infrastructure. It is hoped to attract investment and create jobs. The Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency [TMSA] stressed that the port, with a capacity of 3.5 million containers, 500,000 trucks and five million passengers, will serve as a platform linking Asia, America, Europe and Africa and a hub for international oil offshore traffic. FLAMANVILLE 3 EDF-EPR - FRANCE(Construction is scheduled to start generating electricity in 2012)Place: site located in the Manche Region Project: A new nuclear power plant with a capacity of 1,650 MW. This power plant will be built with the European pressurised-water technology used for the EPR (European pressurised reactor). This project fully follows EDF's missions: generating, transmitting and selling electricity for all its customers and guaranteeing a clean, safe and competitive electricity. Client: EDF Assembling Contract: 3.3 billion Euro Detail of the Work: Eight years are necessary to be able to produce electricity: 5 years to finalize construction and 3 additional years for administrative procedures, before construction can begin. EDF goes ahead today in the construction of the first of what may become a possible series. Safety and Technical Details: The reactor is composed of 4 redundant safety trains, each within a separate building, to guarantee the safety of the operations, whatever happens. A shell of reinforced concrete protects the more sensitive buildings of Flamanville 3, which is a protection against external hazards. A core melt recovery device ("core catcher") has been installed in order to limit consequences of a hypothetical severe accident. |

CYPRUS & PAFOS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS(Construction is scheduled for completion in 2013)Place: Larnaca and Pafos Project: An upgrade of Larnaca and Paphos airports has started and represents Cyprus's first Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) project. Detail of the Work: Hermes is to build new passenger terminals and extend the runways at both airports under a 25-year concession. Larnaca’s first phase (due for completion in 2008) will serve 7.5m passengers a year.The arrivals hall was expanded in February 2006 adding two luggage belts bringing the total up to six, a smoking area, and a larger lounge. This was done as a 'stopgap' measure to better enable the airport to handle passengers until a new terminal is completed on a nearby site. A second phase, due to be completed in 2013, provides for the expansion of the terminal to cater for 9m passengers a year, and for a 500m runway extension. The design for the new 98,000 m2 Larnaca terminal includes 16 boarding bridges and is intended to reflect the proportions of a medieval aqueduct located in the city. |
